Hi all Rikki Tikki here,
Hope all of you who went on family camp had a great time, the wethar was fantastic. to all of you who made the effort to dress up for the Oscars night well done you were amazing. Synergise is this weekend and for those who are on their first camp take some extra clothes for night time, the mornings are very cold now. Hope you have a great camp.

I have to admit I am a little disappointed that no one has commented on my first blog and started to blog back. Maybe everyone has been busy with holidays etc. Well its back to normal now and I would like for you to think about the last few months of this brilliant 60th year. What sort of activities would you like to do between now and Christmas ? would you like an autumm camp ?
for the adults, would you like a dibber dobbers autumm camp?

Please let me have your ideas so we can help the leaders plan the next few months.

If you want to get involved with the community garden project , the next get together is 13th of October at the garden from 11.00 am till 3.00pm .this time there will be planting of fruit trees and bulbs, path building, potatoe printing for kids etc.

Rikki Tikki's first blog

Hi All,
Rikki Tikki Tavi here, this is my first ever blog so I hope I get things right.

Firstly I must tell you about our event this coming Saturday 11th at the hut, starting at 10:00 am and finishing around 2:00pm, BIG ART. I did a poster which will be up in the Scout hut. Someone said, "I bet its not long before its says BIG FART!" Well, I don't mind because it will mean it will have been read!

In my blogs I am interested to get your opinions about anything to do with Scouting at Handsworth Scout group, especially about your ideas and thoughts of how it could be better. I am going to kick things off with this question.

If you had three wishes about what you want to do in Scouts what would they be?

Try to put them in some order of which is highest on your list.

thanks

The Big Adventure

This year marks a hugely important point for the Handsworth group- our Diamond anniversary. 60 years is a huge amount of time for any organisation, but for one run by volunteers- people who give up their time because they see the value in what we do and enjoy their time helping others- is just incredible.

As a Scout myself as a child volunteering is a chance to pay back those who gave me some of the happiest childhood memories I have. Scouting activities have also helped bring me closer to my family as I persuaded them to get involved and the extra time with them is absolutely precious to me.

I have also through Scouting acquired a whole new family in two very different senses. Firstly, I have a Scouting family, a term we see thrown around a lot, but fiercely personal to me- great friends who I have had some incredible experiences with. Secondly, I have a very literal family through Scouting as it was here I met my wife, her family (who are also Scouters) and we are about to have our first baby together.

Scouting has done incredible things for me, but the question is what has it or can it do for you? September is our family camp and should be one of the highlights of the year. I hope many of you will take the opportunity to come and have a taste of the adventure for yourselves- to see what we do and what our young people do.

I hope to see you there.
